The Articulated Doll Workshop - Paris, France - October 31 - November 1

The Articulated Doll Workshop - Paris, France - October 31 - November 1

$116.00

Join me for a two-day, in-person dollmaking workshop - a focused creative immersion for those who love working with their hands and value the process as much as the result. Limited to five participants, the atmosphere will be intimate and supportive, allowing for close instruction and a shared rhythm of making.

This workshop is ideal for seasoned dollmakers looking to refine their techniques and add greater depth to their work, as well as for adventurous beginners with some hand-sewing experience (we’ll be using running and ladder stitches throughout the process).

With step-by-step guidance, you'll create a Waldorf-inspired art doll (approximately 33 cm tall), featuring an articulated head with a hidden joint that allows it to turn and tilt naturally, giving your doll a wonderfully lifelike expression and range of movement. You'll sculpt an expressive needle-felted face full of personality, create a smooth, proportioned body filled with silky-soft organic wool, and choose between bendable two-part legs that allow your doll to sit naturally or straight legs. Using only high-quality natural materials, you'll complete your doll with a beautiful hairstyle made from luxurious Teeswater locks.

What's the price and what's included:

The full price for this workshop is €540.

A non-refundable deposit of €100 (equivalent to approximately $116 USD) is required to secure your spot. The remaining balance will be due on the first day of the workshop.

  • Approximately 18 hours of focused, hands-on instruction over two full days

  • An intimate small-group setting, allowing for plenty of individual attention and personalized guidance

  • A doll pattern accompanied by a detailed photo tutorial

  • All materials required to create one complete art doll

  • A collection of clothing patterns, delivered by email in September

This class will teach you how to:

  • Sculpt a firm, durable doll head and shape all the facial features - including the jaw, chin, cheeks, nose, and lips, using needle felting.

  • Construct a hidden joint that allows the head to turn and tilt naturally.

  • Embroider expressive, symmetrical eyes and delicate eyelashes.

  • Build a beautifully balanced doll torso with sculpted, supportive shoulders that maintain the tension of the skin fabric and securely hold the arms in place, then finish it with charming details such as a smooth little bottom and a delicate belly button.

  • Attach the legs so the doll can sit upright on its own without additional support, and attach the arms so they hang naturally and move freely at the sides.

  • Create a charming hairstyle using Teeswater locks.

When and where:

The class will take place over two days - Saturday and Sunday, October 31- November 1st,

from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM in Paris, France (near Place de la Bastille).

Can't wait to meet you in Paris! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at petitgosset@gmail.com.
