The New York I've Been Waiting to Share - December 2-6, 2026
Join us for a unique creative journey!
New York has long been a paradise for makers, collectors, and anyone who finds beauty in textiles. From the legendary Fashion District, with its endless treasures of fine fabrics, ribbons, lace, buttons, trims, and notions, to the inspiring galleries of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the city offers a rich blend of creativity, craftsmanship, and design.
And because we'll be gathering during the holiday season, we'll also have the chance to experience New York at its most magical. Imagine a leisurely stroll through pre-Christmas Manhattan, admiring the beautifully decorated holiday windows along Fifth Avenue, visiting the iconic Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, and soaking in the festive lights and joyful atmosphere that make New York so unforgettable in December.
Created especially for dollmakers and textile enthusiasts, this retreat combines inspiration, shopping, and hands-on learning. Together, we'll explore the fabric shops and hidden gems of the Fashion District, discovering unique materials for future projects, sharing inspiration, and immersing ourselves in the extraordinary collections at the Met.
At the heart of the retreat is a two-day dollmaking workshop, where you'll create your own heirloom-quality doll using natural materials while learning techniques for sculpting, shaping, and bringing a unique character to life. Whether you're an experienced dollmaker or just beginning your journey, you'll enjoy a supportive, creative environment surrounded by fellow makers.
More than a workshop or a shopping trip, this is an opportunity to connect with like-minded creatives, gather fresh ideas, and return home with a beautiful handmade doll, treasured materials, and renewed inspiration for your work.
